Fluorometholone

Indications

Fluorometholone is a corticosteroid;
Fluorometholone is indicated to treat short-term inflammation in the eye;
Fluorometholone is indicated for the ophthalmic treatment of corticosteroid-responsive inflammation of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the globe.
Fluorometholone is indicated to treat swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions in the eye;

Contraindications

Fluorometholone is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- An unusual allergic reaction to fluorometholone, other corticosteroids, drugs, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
- Any active infection;
- Breast-feeding;
- Cataracts or glaucoma;
- Contact lens wearer;
- Eye surgery;
- Fluorometholone eye drops are not recommended for children under 2 years of age;
- If you are pregnant, breast-feeding or trying for a baby;
- If you are taking or using any other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal or complementary medicines;
- If you have ever had a viral, fungal or severe bacterial infection or tuberculosis of the eye;
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine;
- If you have ever had any other eye problem that needed treatment from a doctor or specialist;
- If you wear soft contact lenses;
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant;

Interactions

Interactions are not expected.

Side Effects

Fluorometholone side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- Thinning of the skin;
- Temporary watering of eyes;
- Temporary redness or stinging for a few moments after application;
- Poorervision;
- Irritation of the eye (burning, stinging);
- Infection;
- Fine Red lines on the face;
- Eye pain, decreased or blurred vision that does not go away;
- Change in taste;
- Cataracts;
- Blurredvision;
- Blurred vision for a few moments after application;
- Allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue;
