Dorzolamide Indications
This results in a decrease in the amount of aqueous humour (watery fluid that fills the space in the front of the eye), and so pressure within the eye is reduced.
Dorzolamide works by blocking the action of an enzyme in the body called carbonic anhydrase.
Dorzolamide is indicated in the eye to treat open-angle glaucoma and high pressure in the eye.
Dorzolamide Contraindications
Dorzolamide is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Wear contact lenses;
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
- Kidney or liver disease;
- If you wear contact lenses;
- If you have liver or kidney problems;
- If you have had any problems with your eyes, or any operations on your eyes;
- If you have ever been allergic to drugs called "sulphonamides";
- If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding;
- Eye infection or damage;
- Closed-angle glaucoma;
- Breast-feeding;
- An unusual or allergic reaction to dorzolamide, sulfa drugs, other drugs, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
Dorzolamide Interactions
Do not take Dorzolamide with any of the following drugs:
- Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors like acetazolamide or methazolamide;
Dorzolamide Side Effects
Dorzolamide side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- Unusually weak or tired;
- Unusual bleeding;
- Sensitivity of the eyes to light;
