Brimonidine

Indications

Brimonidine is indicated to to treat open-angle glaucoma and high pressure in the eye.
This Results in less fluid entering the eye which keeps the pressure in the eye low;
Brimonidine eye drops works by stimulating chemical receptors found on blood vessels in the eye;
Brimonidine is indicated dor the lowering of intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Contraindications

Brimonidine is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- An unusual or allergic reaction to brimonidine, benzalkonium chloride, Purite preservative, other drugs, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
- Breast-feeding;
- Buerger's disease;
- Closed-angle glaucoma;
- Depression;
- Eye infection or damage;
- Heart disease;
- If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding;
- If you are taking antidepressant medication or if you suffer from depression;
- If you are taking other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal and complementary medicines;
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine;
- If you have heart or circulation problems (particularly Raynaud's phenomenon);
- If you have liver or kidney problems;
- If you suffer from postural hypotension (dizziness when sitting up or standing quickly);
- Kidney disease;
- Liver disease;
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
- Raynaud's phenomenon;
- Wear contact lenses;

Interactions

Do not take Brimonidine with any of the following drugs:
- MAOIs like Carbex, Eldepryl, Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate;
- Drugs for high blood pressure or other heart problems;
- Drugs that cause drowsiness or tiredness;
- Tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, clomipramine, and desipramine;

Side Effects

Brimonidine side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- Tiredness;
- Sensitivity of the eyes to light;
- Inflamed or infected eyes or eyelids;
- Headache;
- Headache;
- Drynessin the mouth;
- Dry or itchy eyes;
- Dry mouth;
- Dry Eye, blurred vision, eye redness, stinging and irritation;
- Drowsiness;
- Burning, stinging, or discomfort immediately after using the solution;
- Blurred vision;
- Bleeding in your eye;
- Bitter taste in the mouth;
- Allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue;
